Here's a detailed recipe for making Neapolitan ice cream, featuring three classic flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, served side by side in the same container:

Ingredients:

For Vanilla Ice Cream:

1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Chocolate Ice Cream:

1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Strawberry Ice Cream:

1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

For Vanilla Ice Cream:

In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Transfer the mixture to a clean bowl and cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the mixture to prevent a skin from forming. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Once chilled, churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Transfer the churned vanilla ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

For Chocolate Ice Cream:

Follow the same steps as for the vanilla ice cream, but add the cocoa powder to the saucepan along with the other ingredients in step 1.

Continue with steps 2-5 to churn and freeze the chocolate ice cream.

For Strawberry Ice Cream:

In a blender or food processor, puree the chopped strawberries until smooth.

In a medium saucepan, combine the pureed strawberries, heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar over medium heat.

Transfer the churned strawberry ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Assembling Neapolitan Ice Cream:

Once all three flavors of ice cream are frozen and firm, remove them from the freezer.

Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, scoop each flavor of ice cream into a single container, alternating between vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry to create layers.

Once all three flavors are layered in the container, cover with a lid or plastic wrap and return to the freezer until ready to serve.

When ready to serve, scoop the Neapolitan ice cream into bowls or cones, showcasing the trio of flavors in each serving.

Enjoy the classic combination of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry in this homemade Neapolitan ice cream! Feel free to customize the flavors or add toppings as desired.
